i kinda like this tourny idea
I am pleased to announce that AceHolesMilitia will be sponsoring an open tournament Saturday October 4th at 1 pm server time on Blue Server.
This is a double elimination event with 2 seperate brackets. A winners bracket and a losers bracket.
Entry to this tournament is completely free and all prizes are donated at the beginning of the tournament. We typically generate 100 mil in prizes at the start of the tournament paying 1st, 2nd and a closest to the pin comp for par 3 holes. A seperate HIO bonus (not counted in closest to the pin) may be generated if donations are sufficient.
AHM currently runs this tournament every week for our guild, but this week we are opening it up to anyone who wants to compete.
This is a head to head event with brackets.
W bracket rules are:
Saturday Night Frenzy
Welcome to the Frenzy tournament hosted by AceHolesMilitia.
It is DOUBLE elimination, which means that you must lose twice to be eliminated from the tournament.
This is the Winners bracket and will be set up in the following format.
Singles 1 vs 1 with handicaps for 6 holes of Random course stroke play. Handicaps are established in the following way.
Handicaps
Difference in lvl divided by 10 and rounded down to the nearest 0.5.
Example... Lvl 75 vs Lvl 61
75-61 = 14 14/10 = 1.4 Rounded down to 1.0 stroke hc. This means that the lvl 75 must score 2 strokes better to win, 1 stroke better to tie, and an even score is a win for lvl 61.
Example....lvl 61 vs lvl 58
61-58 = 3 3/10 = 0.3 rounded down to zero. This is an even match and the winner of the stroke match will move on.
Example.... lvl 61 vs lvl 52
61-52 = 9 9/10 = 0.9 rounded down to 0.5 strokes. This means that an even score is a win for lvl 52. Lvl 61 must score 1 stroke better to win. There are no ties possible for this score.
In the event that there is a tie between the players, tie breakers will be done using the following format.
Tie Breaker
Ties in the winners bracket will be handled with a 3 hole stroke play and no handicaps applied. This will continue until a winner has been decided.
The Winners (W) bracket will continue until there is 1 player left. At this time they will play the winner of the Loser (L) bracket using W bracket format. In other words, 6 holes of stroke play with handicap. In the event that the winner of the W bracket loses to the L bracket winner, the match will revert to L bracket format. Both players would then have 1 loss each. If the W bracket winner wins, itīs over baby. The winner has been decided.
Please have fun and remember to read the rules for the L bracket as they are slightly different than the W bracket format.
L Bracket rules are
Saturday Night Frenzy L bracket.
Welcome to the L bracket.
Since this is a double elimination event, losers of the W bracket will find themselves digging their way back into the competition.
Handicaps
There are no handicaps for this bracket. Pure straight up golf. WIN
Format
The format for the L bracket is a 3 hole MATCH play on a random map.
Tie Breakers
If there is a tie, play again, same format until you have decided a winner.
Winner of the L bracket will play the Winner of the W bracket using the W bracket format for the first game. If the winner of the L bracket can beat the W bracket winner, format will revert to the L bracket format.
You will be required to register on the ladder site in order to participate so that the brackets can be filled with your names.
Go to www.aceholesladder.com/combo and register a new player. To assist in identifying who is playing...plz use ur in game name.
Once you have responded to the validation e-mail, log in at the top right corner.
Next under the player management header on the left menu...select "Join a Ladder". Join the ladder named "Open Tournaments".
You are then ready to join the tournament.
2 hours before the tournament, I will open signups up (11 am Server time). This will be your opportunity to signup for the tournament. You will do this by selecting the Tournament link on the left side menus. Then click the white letters next to the open tournament. You will need to do this for both the W bracket and the L bracket.
Then meet us at 1 pm Server time on the green circle for a photo and final instructions.
I will remain at the green circle for the entire tournament and Losers of the match must come and report so that the brackets are updated.
Some simple rules that we enforce are.
1. no slam shots or cheats during the event
2. if you are in the Gallery viewing a match, plz remain quiet....no coaching is allowed and will result in expulsion from the tourney.
