I live in a neighbourhood with lots of shops and cafe's. The scent of coffee has always been apparent around here. Especially the smell of burnt coffee. Never thought much of it other than ew..I dislike the smell of burnt coffee.
Story:
So the other day my girlfriend is walking home from work and notices a few cop cars parked up on our sidewalk in front of our house. She thinks something wild is going down and talks to a police officer. He informs her that the house directly across from ours has been raided.
In the house they found one of the rooms covered in heroin/crack/cocaine needles. The yard had about 5-10 Tents set up where a bunch of junkies were currently living.
There has been a deadbolt and signs up on the house for months, so everyone just thought it was abandoned. We always joked about it being a crack house. Cause no one ever went in and no one ever came out.
Well last few days (prior to raid) we have been smelling this burnt coffee smell like all hours of day. It was getting nauseating and really annoying. But we couldn't do anything about it. Too hot to shut our windows...and nothing could mask it.
So today randomly the story was leaked out amongst some friends about the house being a crack palace, and one of them says to me, so does it smell like burnt coffee at yer house. I'm like yea...it does. He goes that my friend is the smell of burning/cooking crack.
So next time you smell burnt coffee...ponder if it is really crack.
P.S - My neighbourhood is great and extremely safe, I would walk gladly at 12am-5am without worrying bout people. This one house just happened to be a perfect hideaway. Oh well
